The Banque du Québec never existed as a functioning institution authorized to issue currency — this is a fantasy note produced within the sovereigntist political milieu that intensified around the time of the failed Meech Lake Accord. Several such pieces circulated as political artifacts or collector curiosities during the late 1980s and early 1990s, imagining what a post-confederation Québec monetary system might look like.

No central bank mandate, no legal tender status, no redemption obligation. Collectible strictly as a document of political imagination rather than monetary history.
