| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, depicting a shield quartered with crossed tools and a sailing vessel, supported by two woodcutters standing at either side, each holding an axe and a paddle respectively. A mahogany tree rises above the shield as a crest. The entire armorial achievement is encircled by a wreath of olive branches. The legend BELIZE arcs along the upper rim, the date 1983 appears in the lower field, and the motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO is inscribed on a scroll at the base of the arms. A beaded border frames the design along the inner rim. |

| Reverse description | A ringed kingfisher (Megaceryle torquata) is depicted perched on a rock in three-quarter right-facing profile, rendered in fine naturalistic detail with plumage carefully delineated. Tropical vegetation forms the background behind the bird. The denomination legend TEN DOLLARS appears in the lower field. A beaded circle frames the design along the inner rim, consistent with the obverse treatment. |
