Obverse description The national arms of Nauru occupy the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two frigate bird feathers on either side, with a twelve-pointed star and a scroll inscribed NAOERO at the chief. The lower quarters of the shield feature a frigatebird and a sprig of calophyllum, while a ribbon beneath the shield bears the motto GOD'S WILL FIRST. The legend BANK OF NAURU arcs along the upper periphery in large incuse letters, with two raised dots flanking the lower field, and the date 2003 inscribed in the exergue below.
