Obverse description Central device comprising the Portuguese armillary sphere superimposed by the colonial coat of arms of Cape Verde, the shield quartered with the quintas (five shields bearing five bezants each) of Portugal on the dexter and a caravel at sea on the sinister, surmounted by a mural crown. The colonial territory name CABO VERDE arcs along the upper legend, separated by a central dot, with the denomination 10$00 displayed in the lower field. Two floral ornaments flank the shield at either side, and the entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
