Obverse description The obverse features a stylised olive branch rendered in low relief, its sinuous boughs and leaves occupying the central field, evoking the ancient Greek tradition of crowning victors with olive wreaths. At centre, the legend ΑΘΗΝΑ 2004 appears above the five interlocked Olympic rings. The denomination 10 ΕΥΡΩ is inscribed along the lower periphery in bold Greek characters. A border of twelve five-pointed stars, referencing the European Union, encircles the entire design. The coin's mirror-like proof field contrasts with the frosted raised devices, lending the composition a refined, medallic quality.
