| Reverse description | Central field depicts a highly detailed relief of a pangolin clinging to a tree branch, its characteristic overlapping scales rendered with precision across the full body. The animal faces right with its elongated snout raised, tail curling downward around the branch. The legend ENDANGERED WILDLIFE curves along the upper left arc of the inner field. The denomination 10 FRANCS appears in the lower exergual area in bold capital letters. |

| Additional information |
The Democratic Republic of the Congo reissued its central bank under this name in 1997 following Laurent-Désiré Kabila's overthrow of Mobutu Sésé Seko, who had renamed the country Zaïre and its currency the zaïre. This 10 Francs piece belongs to the earliest wildlife-themed silver issues struck under the restored "Congo" identity — a series driven almost entirely by the international collector market rather than domestic circulation, with mintages kept deliberately low to sustain secondary market premiums.
