| Reverse description | A highly detailed, finely modelled full-face lion's head occupies virtually the entire field, rendered in high relief with naturalistic treatment of the mane, facial features, and musculature. The legend 'JUSTICE' arcs along the left border and 'TRAVAIL' along the right border, while 'PAIX' is inscribed across the upper field above the lion's head. The engraver's monogram 'CvD' for Carlos Van Dionant appears at the bottom of the field below the lion's chin. The three French motto words — Justice, Peace, Work — reflect the national ideals of the Republic of the Congo. |
