Obverse description Central field occupied by an elaborate coat of arms featuring a crowned shield flanked by two rampant lions as supporters, the shield bearing a diagonal band and an eagle in the sinister canton. The legend 'KINGDOM OF RURITANIA' curves along the upper rim in raised Latin lettering, while the denomination '10 GUILDER' appears in bold relief across the upper portion of the field, above the arms. The overall design is executed in a heraldic style with fine engraved detailing throughout the field and devices.

Additional information

Ruritania is a fictional kingdom invented by Anthony Hope for his 1894 novel The Prisoner of Zenda, and no such issuing authority has ever existed. This piece is almost certainly a fantasy strike or novelty issue — produced outside any sovereign monetary framework and with no legal tender status anywhere.
