Krumau am Kamp is a small village in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it issued Notgeld during the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria from roughly 1914 onward. These emergency pfennig-denominations were produced locally to replace hoarded or melted metal coinage, with each issuing body responsible for its own design, printing arrangement, and redemption guarantee — such as it was.

The JPR0487d series designation suggests this is one of several denominations issued by the same municipality, a common pattern. Redemption reliability varied enormously between villages; some honored their notes promptly, others did not.
