Lamprechtshausen is a small municipality in Salzburg province, and this 10 Heller note is a product of the Austrian Notgeld wave that swept local governments into emergency currency production from 1920 onward, when chronic coin shortages made small-denomination transactions nearly impossible. Hundreds of Austrian communes issued their own paper in this period, most in tiny print runs through regional job printers. Aug. Thalmayr of Oberndorf — a few kilometers north on the Salzach — handled several such commissions in the district.
