| Obverse description | Printed on green paper, the obverse is enclosed within a decorative letterpress border of interlocking square ornaments and rope-pattern rules. The heading 'Kassenschein der Gemeinde Neuhaus.' is set in bold Gothic script across the top, beneath which the denomination '10' appears in large numerals at centre, flanked on each side by the legend 'Zehn Heller' in a separate ruled panel. The lower portion carries a three-line redemption text in German, followed by the printed surnames and titles of three municipal officials — Karner (Vize-Bürgermeister), Mayer (Bürgermeister), and Fürst (I. Gemeinderat) — and a forgery-warning notice; the note is identified at foot as 'ZWEITE AUFLAGE' (second issue). |

Austrian municipal notgeld from the Wienerwald region, issued by the Gemeinde Neuhaus during the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria following the First World War. These small-denomination paper scrip notes were a purely local solution — legal tender only within the issuing commune, redeemable in theory but often simply spent until they fell apart.
Three signatories — Karner, Mayer, and Fürst — reflect the collegial authorization structure typical of Austrian Gemeindeamt administration. The 10 Heller denomination sits at the low end of the notgeld range, suggesting this was intended to replace the smallest coins missing from everyday retail transactions.
