The Snow Queen issue belongs to Denmark's fairy tale coin series commemorating Hans Christian Andersen's bicentennial birth year — 2005 — though production extended into 2006 for the silver strikes. The base metal version circulated as a genuine 10 krone piece, an unusual decision that briefly put a Andersen-themed coin into everyday Danish pockets alongside mundane change.
The .999 fine silver variant at 31.1g is a collector-only issue, never intended for circulation. KM#914a distinguishes it from the cupro-nickel 914, same dies, entirely different purpose.
