Henriette Yvonne Stahl wrote her landmark novel Între zi și noapte in 1942, a work that sat awkwardly with the postwar communist regime — her introspective, psychologically dense fiction had little use to socialist realism's demands. She was largely sidelined for decades before a cautious rehabilitation late in her life. This commemorative issue arrives on the centenary of her literary debut, positioning her alongside the broader NBR series honoring Romanian cultural figures who were suppressed or marginalized under communist rule.
