| Reverse description | A finely modeled right-facing portrait bust of Heydar Aliyev, former President of Azerbaijan, dominates the central field against a stippled background. The effigy captures his mature likeness in a suit and tie, rendered in high relief with considerable sculptural detail. A facsimile of Aliyev's personal signature appears in cursive below the portrait. Two six-pointed star ornaments flank the lower portion of the central medallion. The legend 'HEYDƏR ƏLİYEV' arcs along the upper border in bold Latin characters. |

| Additional information |
Heydar Aliyev, who ruled Azerbaijan from 1993 until his death in 2003, remains the dominant political figure in the country's post-Soviet identity — his son Ilham has governed since, and the cult of the elder Aliyev has only grown more institutionalized with time. Commemorative issues bearing his image are a routine instrument of that state-sponsored reverence.
The 3.11 g specification places this squarely in the one-tenth troy ounce bullion format, increasingly favored by post-Soviet central banks for collector-bullion crossover issues.
