Libya's constitutional monarchy under King Idris issued this series just three years before the 1969 coup that brought Muammar Gaddafi to power and abolished the kingdom entirely. The coins of this final decimal series saw relatively little time in circulation before the new regime replaced them, which partly explains why examples in mid-to-high grades surface with some regularity.
