Obverse description Facing left truncated effigy of Chiang Kai-shek in military dress, rendered in high relief against a flat field. The traditional Chinese legend 中華民國 (Republic of China) arcs across the upper field from right to left, while the Republic of China year inscription appears in the left field, also reading vertically in traditional Chinese characters. The portrait is realistically modelled with fine detail to the facial features and collar.

Reverse description Central denomination inscription 拾圓 (Ten Yuan) in large traditional Chinese characters occupies the centre of the field, with the Arabic numeral 10 immediately below. The central legends are flanked on both sides by symmetrical sprays of plum blossoms (the national flower of the Republic of China), rendered in fine relief with blossoms and branching stems forming an open wreath that frames the denomination.
