The Danish Brigade notes were issued for use within Danish military camps and units, functioning as an internal scrip system rather than general-circulation currency. The Krigsministerium retained tight control over these issues precisely to prevent ordinary currency from flowing in and out of military installations — a common postwar concern across European armies still managing occupation zones and garrison economies.
Havning's involvement as designer and the use of the Nationalbank's own printing facility gave the series an unusual degree of official finish for what was essentially canteen money.
