Obverse description Printed in black and blue-green, the obverse carries a central vignette of a sailing vessel entering Havana harbor with the Morro Castle in the background, flanked by two seated allegorical female figures, one holding a cornucopia and the other a staff. Surrounding vignettes illustrate the agricultural wealth of Cuba: a tobacco plant, royal palm trees, a sugar mill with smokestacks, and oxen hauling a cart laden with sugar cane. Denomination numerals appear at the corners, with the issuing bank title and payment obligation text occupying the central inscription panel.
Obverse lettering 10 EL BANCO ESPAÑOL DE LA HABANA á la presentación de este billete pagará al portador DIEZ pesos fuertes en efectivo. Habana, 20 de Dbre. de 1869.
(Translation: The Spanish Bank of Havana Upon presentation of this note, the bearer will be paid Ten Pesos Fuertes in cash. Havana, December 20, 1869.)
Reverse description The reverse is essentially unprinted, presenting a plain paper surface. A large red-ink cancellation cross is drawn diagonally across the entire face, and a circular violet official control stamp bearing the numeral "10" and a legible legend referencing cancellation of the billete is applied at centre. Two handwritten "Es inutil" ("It is worthless") cancellation inscriptions appear in the upper and lower fields, and three punch-hole cancellations are visible along the bottom edge, consistent with standard administrative demonetization procedures.
