| Obverse description | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, grasping and devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The eagle is rendered in high relief with finely detailed feathering, wings partially spread. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the device.
