| Obverse description | Central device features the Sol de Mayo, the radiant sun with a human face set amid alternating straight and wavy rays, a national symbol of Uruguay rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The circumferential legend REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY arcs around the upper and lateral periphery in incuse Latin characters. The date 1969 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the sun device. The overall design reflects the classical Uruguayan heraldic tradition, with the sun motif occupying the majority of the flan. |
