Obverse description Central shield of the Honduran Coat of Arms, depicting a volcanic landscape within a triangular frame, encircled by the legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS and the date 1871 at the base. The shield is flanked by a symmetrical arrangement of cannons, rifles, and flags, with crossed lances and swords radiating outward. A mural crown surmounts the shield, and a decorative scroll wraps around the lower portion of the arms. A small ornamental cross or star device appears at the very bottom of the design, below the scroll. The composition is bold and deeply struck, reflecting the formal heraldic style typical of Central American pattern coinage of the period.
