Dippoldiswalde is a small town in the Erzgebirge foothills south of Dresden, and its Bezirksverband — the district administrative association — issued this note as part of the broader Notgeld wave that swept German municipalities during the chronic small-change shortages of 1917–1921. District-level issuers at this scale rarely produced large print runs, and survival rates for these minor Saxon pieces tend to be lower than for the more aggressively distributed tourist Notgeld from larger towns.
