| Reverse description | Central circular cartouche enclosing the word 'هاشمي' (Hashemite) in bold calligraphic Arabic script. The surrounding field is divided into four lobed compartments bearing the full governmental legend: the Hashemite Arab Government inscription appears at the top, the denomination of ten qirush is stated in the field, and the mint and date legend at the lower portion records that the coin was struck in the holy city of Mecca in the regnal year 8 (AH 1342 / AD 1923). The design is entirely epigraphic, consistent with Islamic numismatic tradition, and executed in a flowing Naskh-influenced calligraphic style. |
