Bank Melli Iran's 10 Rial notes of this period were printed by Harrison and Sons in London — a long-running arrangement that continued through several Shah-era series. The SH 1340 (1961) dating places this squarely in the post-1953 stabilization period, when U.S. and British backing had helped prop up the Pahlavi government following the CIA-assisted coup against Mossadegh and the reversal of oil nationalization.
Pick 59 is common enough in circulated grades but surprisingly elusive in high uncirculated condition — the lightweight paper is prone to corner wear and handling creases that develop quickly in everyday use.
