Qatar Central Bank's 1996 series replaced the earlier Qatar Monetary Agency issues following the central bank's establishment in 1993. Thomas De La Rue's printing for the Gulf states during this period was largely competent but unremarkable — this note falls squarely into that category, a transitional piece issued while Qatar was building institutional infrastructure ahead of the significant redesigns that came in the 2000s.
