Comments

NCR Corporation produced test notes like this one for internal calibration of their automated cash-handling and ATM equipment — not for any central bank or government purpose. The notes simulate real currency dimensions to allow machines to validate thickness, stiffness, and transport mechanics without using actual banknotes that would need to be accounted for and returned.

By 1991, NCR held a dominant position in ATM manufacturing globally, and proprietary test media of this kind were deliberately made non-negotiable and visually distinct to prevent any possibility of insertion into circulation.
