| Obverse description | Central vignette of three young soldiers in uniform representing the Air Force, Navy, and Army branches of the Korean People's Army, rendered in intaglio against a multicolour guilloche underprint. A laureate five-pointed star appears at upper left, with the State emblem — incorporating a hydroelectric power station beneath a radiant star — positioned to the right. Commemorative inscriptions in Korean are arranged across the note, including references to the 100th anniversary of Kim Il Sung's birth and the Juche year designation. |

North Korea has issued commemorative won notes tied to major political anniversaries since at least the 1990s, but the 2012 Kim Il Sung centenary series carried unusual weight — 2012 was declared "Juche 101" and marketed domestically as the year the DPRK would complete its transformation into a "strong and prosperous nation," a campaign promise that went conspicuously unfulfilled. These notes were produced for ceremonial distribution rather than active monetary use; the won's practical circulation economy was, by that point, severely distorted by the 2009 currency redenomination, which wiped out private savings and deepened public distrust of paper currency.
The Pick CS10 designation signals a commemorative or special issue outside the main circulation sequence.
