| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Panama occupies the central field, depicted in fine relief against a mirror-like proof background. The shield is surmounted by a harpy eagle with wings displayed, clutching a banner inscribed PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO, and flanked by nine stars arranged in an arc above. The shield itself is quartered, displaying crossed swords and rifle, a cornucopia, a shovel and pick, and the Isthmus with rising sun, all rendered with precise detail. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 100 BALBOAS curves along the lower rim, with the fineness statement 900/1000 ORO FINO appearing in the lower field beneath the arms. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a stylized pre-Columbian condor rendered in the manner of indigenous Panamanian goldwork, occupying the majority of the central field against a deeply mirrored proof background. The bird is depicted in a highly abstracted, ornamental style characteristic of ancient Coclé or Veraguas goldsmithing tradition, with intricately engraved feather detail, a pronounced hooked beak, and boldly curved talons. The design is enclosed within a finely beaded inner border. The date 1980 is inscribed in the lower field beneath the condor motif. |
