The 2022 reissue of this denomination came with a straightforward but politically loaded change: "Republika Makedonija" was replaced on circulating currency by "Republika Severna Makedonija," reflecting the 2019 Prespa Agreement with Greece that ended a three-decade dispute over the country's name. Notes predating the renaming remained legal tender during the transition, creating a brief period when two differently-named versions of the same denomination circulated simultaneously.
Cotton substrate, watermark, and embedded thread place this squarely in the lower tier of the current security architecture — adequate for the face value.
