| Obverse description | The quartered shield of the Niue coat of arms occupies the central field, surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown with cross pattée finial. The shield displays, in its four quarters, the Southern Cross stars, three sailing ships in pale, a plantation tree with two figures, a sheaf with scallop shell, and crossed hammer and pick. Two silver fern fronds flank the shield as supporters. The circular legend reads 'NIUE' to the left and '1987' to the right along the upper periphery. |
