| Obverse description | A cheque-format trial note dated Praia, 30 de Junho 1924, issued by the Banco Nacional Ultramarino for the province of Cabo Verde. The upper portion bears the handwritten number 031 and series designation U-Serie A at top left, with the bank's oval vignette at left showing a sailing ship within an ornate border listing branch locations. The denomination 100$00 (cem escudos) is perforated through the centre of the note in large numerals, and the text specifies payment in notes of the Província de Cabo-Verde, with a circular branch stamp of Banco Nacional Ultramarino, Filial da Santiago, and a manuscript signature of the Gerente below. |
