| Reverse description | Large denomination numeral 100 dominates the central field, rendered in an ornate decorative style with beaded and rope-bordered outlines on each digit. The word FRANCS appears below the numeral in bold lettering, and the date is displayed at the bottom within a decorative band flanked by stylized geometric motifs. The legend BANQUE CENTRALE arcs along the upper periphery. The entire central design is framed by elaborate chevron-patterned decorative borders on both sides, characteristic of the Bazor-designed Central African franc series. |

The Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique Équatoriale et du Cameroun was itself a transitional institution — it replaced the earlier Institut d'Émission de l'Afrique Équatoriale Française et du Cameroun in 1961 as the member states moved from colonial monetary frameworks toward nominally independent central banking, while remaining anchored to the French Treasury through the CFA franc guarantee. This issuer was subsequently dissolved and replaced by the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale in 1972, making the window for coins bearing this exact authority name extremely narrow.
