Obverse description The obverse is engraved in a classical intaglio style, centred on the denomination inscription 'cent francs' in large italic letterpress below the heading 'BANQUE DE FRANCE. / PARIS' with the date. An oval central vignette at the lower centre contains an allegorical group of two reclining female figures flanking a decorative urn, framed by an elaborate guilloche border. The composition is enclosed within an ornate rectangular frame with four oval medallions at the corners, flanked by densely scrolled calligraphic patterns on the left and right margins; three signature lines for the Caissier Principal, the Contrôleur, and the Secrétaire Général appear at the foot of the note.
Obverse lettering BANQUE DE FRANCE. PARIS cent francs. Le Caissier Principal. Le Contrôleur. LE SECRÉTAIRE GÉNÉRAL. GALLE F.
