Obverse description The Bulgarian coat of arms is centred at the top within an elaborate guilloche border, the four corners each bearing the numeral "100" in ornate frames. Bold Cyrillic letterpress text in the central field carries the bank name and denomination against a fine guilloche underprint in pale rose and grey tones. Two serial numbers appear on the note, with manuscript signature lines for the Director and Cashier positioned in the lower central area.
Obverse lettering Сто Лева Злато Българската Народна Банка Плаща Прѣдѫвителю въ замѣна на таѫ банкнота
(Translation: One Hundred Leva Gold The Bulgarian National Bank Pays the Bearer for exchange of this banknote)
Reverse description Three framed vignettes are arranged horizontally across the centre: the left vignette contains the Bulgarian coat of arms, the central vignette bears the Cyrillic denomination text "СТО ЛЕВА", and the right vignette displays the numeral "100". The surrounding border is composed of intricate guilloche work with symmetrical decorative elements executed in the engraving style of the Russian State Printing Works.
