Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the silver centre field, depicting an eagle perched upon a cactus and devouring a serpent, rendered in high relief. The aluminium bronze outer ring bears the curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS along the upper periphery. Decorative oak and laurel branches flank the base of the coat of arms within the ring, tied with a ribbon at the bottom. The overall composition follows the standard obverse design used for Mexican bimetallic commemorative issues.

Reverse description The silver centre field features a detailed relief reproduction of an early colonial Carlos and Juana 3 reales cob coinage (macuquina), showcasing the irregular hand-struck design characteristic of the first coinage produced at the Mexico City Mint. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the curved legend HERENCIA NUMISMATICA DE MEXICO along the upper periphery, with a ring of small beads bordering the inner silver centre. The mint mark Mo appears to the lower left of the ring and the date 2013 to the lower right, while the denomination $100 is inscribed at the bottom of the outer ring.
