Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the bimetallic centre field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a cactus and devouring a serpent, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished gold-toned centre. An ornate wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the arms. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS runs along the upper periphery of the silver outer ring in raised Latin lettering.

Reverse description The bimetallic reverse features a tall coniferous pine tree, symbolic of Durango's forest heritage, depicted in high relief at the centre of the gold-toned inner disc. The denomination $100 appears to the lower left of the tree and the date 2006 to the right, both within the central field. The legend PRIMERA RESERVA NACIONAL FORESTAL arcs along the upper portion of the silver outer ring, while DURANGO is inscribed prominently along the lower arc, all in raised Latin lettering.
