Obverse description The obverse features the Mexican national coat of arms at centre, struck in polished gold-coloured bimetallic relief against a mirror-like proof field. The design depicts the traditional eagle passant left, perched upon a cactus growing from a rocky islet amid water, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons, and wreathed with laurel and oak branches below. The outer silver ring bears the national legend in raised Latin characters encircling the upper periphery.
