Obverse description Central vignette of the Al-Ashrafiya Mosque, a medieval madrasa-mosque in the old city of Taiz situated at the foot of Mount Sabr in southwestern Yemen, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The composition is framed by ornate guilloche borders with arabesque underprint elements. Arabic and Latin inscriptions identify the issuing authority and denomination.

Reverse description Central panoramic vignette in intaglio presents a wide cityscape of Sana'a, with traditional tower-house architecture and multiple mosque minarets rising across the skyline against a backdrop of rugged mountain ranges. Numeral '100' appears in ornate scalloped cartouches at upper left and upper right, framed by a decorative guilloche border with floral rosette motifs along the lower margin. The denomination legend 'ONE HUNDRED RIALS' is inscribed in a panel at the bottom centre, with 'CENTRAL BANK OF YEMEN' at the top.
