Comments

In 1994, Belarus was deep in hyperinflation — the ruble was losing value faster than notes could be printed. This emergency issue was a joint venture between the Belarusian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) and the Savings Bank of the Republic of Belarus, an unusual pairing that reflected how desperate the search for stable exchange instruments had become. Church-affiliated vouchers and quasi-monetary tokens proliferated across the former Soviet republics during this period, but formal co-issuances with state banking institutions were rare.

The denomination was real and functional, not commemorative.
