The SMS Friedrich der Grosse was the lead ship of the Kaiser Friedrich III-class pre-dreadnoughts and saw action at the Battle of Jutland in 1916 as the flagship of the German High Seas Fleet under Vice Admiral Reinhard Scheer. After Germany's defeat, she was interned at Scapa Flow and scuttled on 21 June 1919 — one of 52 German warships deliberately sunk by Rear Admiral Ludwig von Reuter to prevent Royal Navy seizure. Her wreck remains on the seabed there today, a designated historic site.
