NCR Corporation produced training and calibration notes for its currency-handling machines throughout the late twentieth century, and this 1991 example is typical of that industrial rather than monetary purpose. These notes were never intended to pass as legal tender — they exist to test optical sensors, magnetic ink readers, and mechanical transport systems under controlled conditions, making them closer to precision instruments than to banknotes.
Collector interest in NCR test notes is genuine but narrow, driven largely by the difficulty of tracing production quantities, which NCR never published.
