Mongolia's 2008 commemorative program leaned heavily on foreign iconography to drive collector sales — the Great Wall subject has no historical connection to Mongolia and was produced squarely for the international numismatic novelty market. These silver-plated copper issues were struck in relatively high quantities and distributed through wholesale dealers, meaning they remain easy to acquire at modest premiums over issue price.
