Obverse description A bust portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Republic of China, occupies the central vignette, set against a multicolour guilloche underprint into which the classical text of the 'Chapter of Great Harmony' (禮運大同篇), attributed to Confucius, is rendered as a fine background element. Issuing authority and denomination inscriptions in Chinese characters appear above and below the portrait respectively. The note bears the imprint of the Central Engraving and Printing Plant at lower right.

Reverse description The Chung-Shan Building, forming part of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall complex at Yangmingshan National Park in Beitou, Taipei, is rendered in fine intaglio line engraving against a multicolour guilloche background. The denomination in Chinese characters appears at left, with the Republic of China year of plate-making inscribed at lower right.
