| Obverse description | The central field displays the coat of arms of Rwanda in high relief, featuring a shield charged with a traditional hut, flanked by a sorghum stalk and a coffee branch, supported by two interlaced knotted rope-like elements, and surmounted by a sun above crossed tools. The arms are encircled by a decorative ring with two stylised crossed machetes. The upper legend BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA arcs around the outer rim, while the lower portion bears the denomination AMAFARANGA 1000 IGIHUMBI.
