Issued to commemorate the formal coronation of King Vajiralongkorn, who acceded to the throne in December 2016 following the death of Bhumibol Adulyadej but was not crowned until May 2019 — a delay driven by the required mourning period. The note itself appeared in 2020, meaning it entered circulation roughly a year after the events it marks.
Printed entirely in-house at the Bank of Thailand's own facility, which has produced Thai currency since 1969. The optically variable ink on this denomination shifts between green and gold at oblique angles — one of the more straightforward implementations of that technology in the region.
