| Reverse description | Central field depicts a haloed standing figure of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, robed in flowing draped garments, his right hand raised in benediction and left hand held at his side, rendered in low relief against a plain field. To the lower right of the figure stands a small early Armenian church with a conical roof, symbolising the Christianisation of Armenia. To the right of the central figure, the Latin inscription ARMENIA 1700 / 301-2001 appears in two lines, commemorating the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity as Armenia's state religion.
