| Additional information |
Part of a broader wave of themed legal-tender issues produced for the European collector market through the mid-2010s, this coin was struck not by Burkina Faso's own monetary authority but under licensing arrangements typical of CFA franc zone members who delegate commemorative production entirely to private European mints. Burkina Faso itself has no independent minting infrastructure.
The CFA franc's issuance authority rests with the BCEAO in Dakar, meaning coins like this are nominally legal tender in Burkina Faso while never having been intended for domestic circulation at any point.
