Obverse description Central vignette to the right comprises an oval portrait of Szent István Király (King Saint Stephen I of Hungary), shown in regal attire with crown, rendered in intaglio against a fine guilloche underprint in orange-brown tones. The large denomination numeral "1000" appears in all four corners within an elaborate dark border of intricate geometric and foliate guilloche work. The central text panel carries the Hungarian legend "EZER KORONA" in bold letterpress, with the issue date "BUDAPEST, 1923. ÉVI JULIUS HÓ 1.-ÉN" and a printed signature above the title "PÉNZÜGYMINISTER".
