Obverse description Central vignette carries an intaglio portrait of José Gervasio Artigas, framed by laurel branches and elaborate guilloche scrollwork in purple-brown tones. The denomination MIL PESOS and the promise to pay clause appear to the right of the portrait, with the serial number printed twice in red and the series letter in black. The left field, reserved for the watermark, is unprinted, while the bank title runs across the top within a curved cartouche.

Reverse description The full width of the reverse is occupied by a detailed intaglio vignette of the Palacio Legislativo in Montevideo, rendered in purple-brown with fine architectural detail including the colonnaded facade and central dome. Denomination numerals 1000 appear in each corner within guilloche panels, and ornate foliate borders frame the composition on all sides. The printer's imprint appears in small letterpress text below the central vignette.
