Reverse description The reverse continues the green and light brown palette, centring on a vignette of a bookshelf bearing titles of works by Juana de Ibarbourou, accompanied by a palm tree motif beneath a ribbon inscribed «LA PALMA DE JUANA». A stanza from Ibarbourou's poetry is reproduced in full with an attribution line reading «Juana de Ibarbourou — Montevideo, Setiembre 8 1924», while the printer's imprint «OBERTHUR FIDUCIAIRE» and the word «URUGUAY» are printed vertically at the right margin. Partial inverted numerals «1000» at lower right form the register complement to the split-fountain element on the obverse, and a repeated watermark numeral «1000» with «Mil» appears in the right field.

The P#98 replaced the earlier polymer 1000-peso issues that had circulated since the mid-2000s, marking a deliberate return to cotton substrate for this denomination after the polymer experiment proved divisive among Uruguayan retailers and banking institutions. Oberthur Fiduciaire produced the series under contract — a French printer that had handled Uruguayan currency production for several cycles by this point.

The split-fountain register print is the more technically demanding security element here, requiring precise ink-zone alignment across the sheet run to produce its characteristic color-blend effect when held to light.
